There are two contemporary arrangements of this old gospel hymn that have come out in recent years. The first was released in 2007 by Todd Agnew and the second by Casting Crowns in 2009. While the range on the Casting Crowns version is more congregationally-friendly, it lacks any sense of movement and plods along to predictable chord patterns and typical Casting Crowns licks. The Todd Agnew version would be more challenging for congregational singing, but it tells the story of Jesus from incarnation to example to redeemer to living Savior in a compelling and inspirational way. This song could be used for special music or with a congregation that has strong voices and an adventurous spirit.
